DISTINGUISHING DHARMA AND DHARMATA by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche
Distinguishing Dharma and Dharmata is a text that is very brief and direct in its presentation and is included within the class of oral instructions. It is a work which clearly portrays the character of nothing less than non-conceptual original wisdom, the point of utmost profundity within the Mahayana.
With regard to meditation, there are the particular traditions, views and practices of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, the basis of which are the teachings of the Buddha and the commentaries or shastras on those by the great masters. In order to achieve the high view of Mahamudra or Dzogchen we need to cut our doubts, hinderances and aberrations, which is accomplished by listening to and contemplating the Mahayana dharma.
Realizing dharmata or the nature of mind is what is to be known and this we understand through hearing and thinking about it. Nevertheless, due to the obstruction of conventional appearances we are not able to realize this. If we can realize this profound nature then we will naturally separate from confusion and conventional appearances. Thus, this text, Distinguishing Dharma and Dharmata,is devoted to identifying exactly what is conventionally true and what is ultimately true. So this text is extremely important for all those who wish to practice the meditations of Mahamudra and Dzogchen.

SHOWING THE PATH OF LIBERATION by Thrangu Rinpoche
This teaching by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche on Penkarwa's "Short Prayer to Dorje Chang" is one of Rinpoche's first published teachings. It was given by Rinpoche at the request of His Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa especially for the benefit of western students, so that they may understand the nature of the path. Here Rinpoche gives a verse by verse commentary, which covers all aspects of the path and the practice according to the tradition of Mahamudra. He also gives a brief history of the lineage and early lineage masters.
The supplication itself is the one in common use in all the major schools of the Kagyu tradition. It is also used in personal practice, not only within the monasteries, but by all lay people who practice Mahamudra.

ECSTATIC SPONTANEITY: Saraha's Three Cycles of Doha by Herbert Guenther
"Hermeneutical thinking poses a challenge to the hegemony of representational thinking, which in turn tends to dismiss it as the plaything of 'eccentrics'. Saraha was one such eccentric. The Buddhists had a different name for his kind. They are called mahasiddha 'achievers'... Saraha stands out among the eccentric achievers for the sheer volume of work he produced and the influence it had on later Tibetan works in the genre."

ESSENTIALS OF MAHAMUDRA: Looking Directly at the Mind by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche
The Tibetan Buddhist teachings on mahamudra are known for their ability to lead to profound realization. Peaceful and infinitely adaptable, these teachings are as useful for today''s busy world as they have been for centuries.
Written by the tutor to the seventeenth Karmapa, Essentials of Mahamudra is a commentary on Tashi Namgyal's famous Moonlight of Mahamudra-a text that the sixteenth Karmapa had identified as the most valuable for Westerners. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche recognized that Western meditators don''t just need to know how to maintain our meditation practice-we need to know why we should do it. Unmatched in its directness, Essentials of Mahamudra addresses both these needs, rendering one of the most advanced forms of meditation more easily adaptable to our everyday lives.
